Fact Check: Video Of PM Modi’s 2019 Kolkata Rally Shared As Recent From Jalandhar
Modi Video Fact Check: A viral clip claiming to show PM Modi's public meeting in Jalandhar for 2024 elections is actually from his 2019 Kolkata rally. Reverse image searches confirm the false claim.
FACT CHECK: Amid the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a video of a huge crowd seen at a public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being shared on social media with a claim that the footage is of a recent public meeting in Jalandhar, Punjab. Let’s try to find the authenticity of the claim. The video can be seen here and here.
Claim: The video features a massive crowd at PM Modi’s public meeting in Jalandhar, Punjab for the 2024 General Elections.
Fact: The viral video is not from PM Modi’s 2024 General Elections campaign in Jalandhar, Punjab. The video is from a Narendra Modi rally held in Kolkata on 3 April 2019. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To ascertain the authenticity of the claim, we conducted a reverse image search on select frames from the viral video. This search directed us to the original version (archive) of the clip posted on his personal website’s X handle, @narendramodi_in.

The video was uploaded on 3 April 2019 and is explicitly titled to indicate that it was filmed at a rally in Kolkata. This evidence conclusively proves that the visuals are not from the 2024 Jalandhar meeting.
Furthermore, the same 2019 footage was found (archive) on the official Bharatiya Janata Party’s YouTube channel and X handle, further reinforcing our findings.
While it is true that PM Modi did host a meeting in Jalandhar, the viral video making rounds on social media is unrelated to that event. Footage from PM Modi’s Jalandhar visit can be viewed here and here.
Factly had debunked (here, here) the same video earlier when it was attributed to a 2024 elections rally in Adilabad, Telangana, and Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
To sum up, Narendra Modi’s 2019 Kolkata rally video is shared as his Jalandhar rally visuals from the 2024 General Elections campaign.
