J&K Elections: Azad's DPAP Releases First List Of 13 Candidates, AAP Unveils 7 Candidates

The party has confirmed that Ghulam Nabi Bhat would contest from Eidgah, Amir Ahmed Bhat from Khanyar, Nisar Ahmed Lone from Gurez, and Peer Bilal Ahmed from Hazratbal.

The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Sunday declared its first list of 13 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This marks the first assembly election for the party, which was established by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. The list was unveiled by the general secretary of the party, R S Chib.

As per the report of PTI, the DPAP has selected several prominent leaders, including former J&K minister Abdul Majeed Wani for the Doda East constituency, former MLA Mohammad Amin Bhat for Devsar, former J&K advocate general Mohammad Aslam Goni for Bhaderwah, DDC member Saleem Parray for Dooru, and Muneer Ahmed Mir for Lolab.

The DPAP further announced candidates such as DDC member Bilal Ahmed Deva for Anantnag West, Ghulam Nabi Wani (Nellora) for Rajpora, Mir Altaf Hussain for Anantnag, and Qaiser Sultan Ganai (Jin) for Ganderbal.

The party has confirmed that Ghulam Nabi Bhat would contest from Eidgah, Amir Ahmed Bhat from Khanyar, Nisar Ahmed Lone from Gurez, and Peer Bilal Ahmed from Hazratbal. Amir Ahmed Bhat had recently contested the Lok Sabha elections from Srinagar but lost.

For 90 constituencies in the Union territory, the election will take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, followed by the counting of votes on October 4.

The seven names on AAP's list are Fayaz Ahmad Sofi (Pulwama), Mudasir Hassan (Rajpora), Sheikh Fida Hussain (Devsar), Mohsin Shafkat Mir (Dooru), Mehraj din Malik (Doda), Yasir Shafi Matto (Doda West) and Mudassir Amat Mir (Banihal).

AAP Releases List Of Candidates

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also released its list of 7 candidates for the assembly elections, and has informed the Election Commission about its 40 star campaigners for the polls.

The party has its candidates for the assembly elections, naming Fayaz Ahmad Sofi for Pulwama, Mudasir Hassan for Rajpora, Sheikh Fida Hussain for Devsar, Mohsin Shafkat Mir for Dooru, Mehraj Din Malik for Doda, Yasir Shafi Matto for Doda West, and Mudassir Amat Mir for Banihal.

So far, 14 candidates have filed their nominations for the first phase of elections, covering 24 assembly segments—16 in Kashmir and eight in the Jammu region—since the election notification was issued on August 20. The deadline for nominations is August 27.

The constituencies voting in the first phase include Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Zainapora, Shopian, D H Pora, Kulgam, Devsar, Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara-Bijbehara, Shangus-Anantnag East, and Pahalgam in the Kashmir Valley, along with Inderwal, Kishtwar, Padder-Nagseni, Bhaderwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban, and Banihal in the Jammu region.
