MCD Election Results Today, AAP Confident Of 'Landslide' Victory, BJP Upbeat. Key Points
Delhi MCD Results 2022: The AAP claimed a 'landslide' victory as predicted by exit polls even as BJP, which has been controlling MCDs for 15 years, exuded confidence of returning to power.
Votes will be counted for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls today, with both the BJP and AAP upbeat about winning the first civic election in the national capital after the fresh delimitation exercise. The AAP claimed a "landslide" victory as predicted by exit polls even as the BJP, which has been controlling municipal bodies for 15 years, said the tide would turn in their favour after the counting of votes.
The results will be announced today after the counting of polled votes on all the 250 municipal wards. Any party that gets 126 seats will get a majority and gain the power of the civic body.
Voting for MCD elections was held on Sunday.

Municipal Corporation of Delhi Results On Wednesday: Key Points
- Most exit polls have predicted that AAP, the ruling party in Delhi, would sweep the MCD polls, with BJP coming a distant second.
- According to an exit poll by Aaj Tak, AAP may get 149-171 wards. Another exit poll by Times Now shows Arvind Kejriwal's party getting anywhere between 146 and 156 wards.
- Aaj Tak shows BJP getting 69-91 wards while the Times Now exit poll has given BJP anywhere between 84-94 wards.
- Both exit polls have shown the Congress getting 10 or less wards.
- In the 2017 civic election, the BJP won 181 of the 270 wards. The AAP had won 48 wards and the Congress 27.
- AAP claimed that the party will do better than exit poll trends. "We are expecting better results than what the exit polls predicted. These exit polls also show that people have rejected all the allegations leveled by the BJP (against AAP) and have voted for good work," Durgesh Pathak, AAP's MCD poll in-charge, told PTI.
- Garbage collection and landfills emerged as one of the biggest issues in the fight between AAP and the BJP.
- A victory in the MCD polls will not only cement AAP's position in Delhi but will also give the party confidence to take forward its national ambitions and emerge as a serious contender to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- A loss for BJP will severely dent the saffron party's expectations to stage a comeback in the 2025 Delhi assembly polls.
- BJP ruled the MCD for 15 years, between 2007 and 2022 and won all three corporations (North, South and East) even after trifurcation in 2012.
