New CM From BJP Will Not Reside In 'Sheesh Mahal': Reports

Delhi's new BJP Chief Minister will not reside in the renovated "Sheesh Mahal" residence, according to the reports.

In the latest development, the new Chief Minister of Delhi, who will be from the BJP, will not reside in the 'Sheesh Mahal', where former CM Arvind Kejriwal used to live.

The Flagstaff Road bungalow in Civil Lines has been a center of controversy due the huge renovation cost associated with it, as alleged by the BJP. The term, 'Sheesh Mahal' was coined by the BJP to allege the scam done by Kejriwal in its renovation.

After Arvind Kejriwal resigned and vacated the accommodation, it was taken over by then Delhi CM Atishi. However, after carrying out an audit, the Public Works Department took the possession.

BJP leader Vijender Gupta said, as quoted by news agency ANI, "In the first session of the Delhi Assembly, we will table the CAG report (over expenses on renovation of Chief Minister's residence)."

On being asked about BJP's CM face for Delhi, BJP leader Vijender Gupta said, "The party high command will decide on this. All 48 MLAs are equal in the eyes of the party and any of them can be the CM."

In Delhi elections 2025, BJP ended the decade long rule of the AAP, after getting the majority in the 70-member assembly. While BJP secured a decisive 48 seats, AAP was reduced to 22. The grand old party Congress, which once ruled Delhi for 15 years, drew empty handed again.

AAP convenor Kejriwal, who contested from New Delhi constituency, lost to BJP's Parvesh Verma, in the heated battle. Verma defeated Kejriwal by 4,089 votes, whereas Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit won 4,568 votes, finishing third.
