Congress Fully Ready For Battle, Confident That People Want Change: CWC On Upcoming Assembly Polls

Through the CWC resolution, Congress has expressed confidence in getting a decisive mandate in the five assembly polls slated to take place later this year.

The Congress party on Sunday exuded confidence in receiving a decisive mandate in the upcoming state assembly elections in five states, reported PTI. The party said it was ready for the electoral battles and also reaffirmed the preparedness of the party organisation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it said the people of the country want change. The statement was made in a resolution that was adopted at the conclusion of the reconstituted Congress Working Committee meeting in Hyderabad, Telangana.

"This meeting of the Extended Congress Working Committee concludes by expressing its confidence that the Indian National Congress will receive a decisive mandate from the people of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Telangana in the assembly elections that will be held shortly," the resolution said.

According to PTI, the assertion was made in a 14-point resolution adopted by the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

The Congress Party is fully ready for the battle ahead. It is confident that the people of the country are wanting change, the resolution added.  "We will fulfil their expectations of law and order, freedom, social and economic justice, equality and equity," it said.

The party also made an appeal to the people of Telangana to vote for the Congress party in both assembly and Parliament polls. The southern state will go to polls later this year.

"9 years after Telangana was formed, the promise of Golden Telangana lies shattered, betrayed by governments both in Delhi and Hyderabad," the CWC statement read.

"The CWC earnestly appeals to the people of Telangana to cast their votes for the Congress in the upcoming Assembly and Parliament elections. It is time to reignite the dream of a Bangaaru Telangana, and deliver the future that the people of Telangana deserve," it said.

Apart from the regular members, permanent invitees and special invitees, the extended CWC meeting included state party chiefs, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders, parliamentary party office-bearers and its Central Election Committee members.

The first meeting of the reconstituted Congress Working Committee (CWC) took place on Saturday. On the first day the party resolved to make the I.N.D.I.A bloc an "ideological and electoral success" to free the country from "divisive politics" and ensure that people get a government that is sensitive and accountable.
