Congress Constitutes Committees For Assembly Elections In Chhattisgarh

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the committees for the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, which is due later this year.

New Delhi: The Congress party on Monday constituted various committees for the upcoming Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. The committees include an Election Campaign Committee, Core Committee, Communications Committee, and Protocol Committee.
 
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal for the constitution of these committees with immediate effect, the party’s statement said.
Headed by Kumari Selja, the seven-member Core Committee includes Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, President of Chhattisgarh Congress Deepak Baij, Deputy CM T S Singh Deo, Tamradhwaj Sahu, and Shiv Kumar Sahariya.
 
The Election Campaign Committee will be headed by Charan Dass Mahant, as per the communique issued by the Congress General Secretary in-charge Organisation KC Venugopal. The 74-member Election Campaign Committee will have Chief Minister Baghel, Deputy Deo, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Ravinder Chaubey, Mohd Akbar, Shiv Kumar Dahariya, Kawaki Lakhma, Premsai Singh Tekam and Anila Bhendiya.
 
Chhattisgarh ministers Mohan Markam and Umesh Patel, besides Rajya Sabha members Rajeev Shukla, Ranjeet Ranjan, Phulo Devi Netam and K T S Tulsi are also part of the Committee.
 
Ravindra Choubey has been appointed as the Chairperson and Rajesh Tiwari and Vinod Verma as Conveners, while Sushil Anand Shukla will be the coordinator of the Communications Committee.
 
The party also set up a 25-member Protocol Committee with Amarjeet Bhagat as its chairperson, Shiv Singh Thakur as its convener, and Ajay Sahu as coordinator. 
 
Meanwhile, the BJP will roll out its 'Parivartan Yatra' in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, aiming to cover 87 out of the total 90 assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state to expose the Congress-led government's alleged corruption and highlight the Centre's public welfare schemes and policies. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the yatra.
 
Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh are scheduled to be held later this year with the ruling Congress seeking to retain power for the second time in a row.
