BJP's Sikkim Manifesto Promises Farmers' Cash Benefit Hike, Focuses On Financial Empowerment Of Women

The Bharatiya Janata Party launched its poll manifesto for Sikkim assembly elections.

Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday unveiled its poll manifesto for the upcoming Sikkim Assembly election 2024. The manifesto is titled "Modi Ki Guarantee--Viksit Bharat Viksit Sikkim and was released by BJP national president JP Nadda.

During the manifesto launch, JP Nadda stated: "The previous governments beleived in isolation and ignorance. But when PM Modi came he said 'Look East, Act East, Act Fast, and Act First."

"PM Modi Ji has mainstreamed Northeast India in letter and spirit. The decisiveness, door-step delivery and development have caused this unprecedented transformation in the region," the BJP National president said during the manifesto launch.

"Our manifesto for the Sikkim Assembly Elections 2024 says, 'We will safeguard the essence and the substance and the spirit of 371F'," Nadda added.

Some key highlights of BJP's Sikkim manifesto:

  • The party will establish the National Institute of Design in Sikkim in collaboration with the Central Government.
  • It will establish an Institute of Hotel Management in the state to empower youth and boost tourism.
  • The farmers will get the annual cash benefit worth Rs. 9,000 in place of Rs. 6,000 at present under the PM-KISAN Yojana, to ensure their welfare.
  • It will earmark a corpus worth Rs. 500 crore for the Agri-Infra Mission.
  • The agricultural infrastructure will be revamped to benefit farmers and ensure overall prosperity in Sikkim.
  • Establishment of the Regional Institute for Medical Sciences in Sikkim.
  • As per the manifesto, the party will work to empower women in the State by making 15,000 Lakhpati Didis.
  • It will create 25,000 job opportunities for women and youth in the next 5 years.
  • It will establish women-led and women-run 'Amma Community Canteens', providing subsidised food to people.
  • It will launch 'Sikkim Gati Shakti Master Pan,' ensuring multi-modal infrastructure development and coordinated implementation of critical projects of roadways, railways and airways.
