Assembly Election Results: Suspense prevails over Congress CM candidates in three states

An inter-party tussle prevails in the party in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh over who will be the Chief Minister if Congress sweeps the polls

New Delhi: Even though the Congress is set to sweep the assembly elections, it is faced with a situation of indecision over the name of the Chief Minister in the three states where it is projected to win. An inter-party tussle prevails in the party in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In Rajasthan there are two big names up for CM’s post – one being the senior leader and two-times CM of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, who has won from his Sardarpura seat., while the other is Sachin Pilot, the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee Chief and two-time Member of Parliament. As per ABP News sources, the name of Ashok Gehlot is leading in the race to CM's chair. Supporters of Gehlot today gathered at his residence and raised slogans demanding him to be made the CM again. In Madhya Pradesh also Congress will face a predicament if it is successful in displacing the Shivraj government. There are two tall leaders who can replace Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the CM- one is veteran Congress leader Kamalnath who is the president of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee and has formerly been a Union minister, while the other one is Jyotiraditya Scindia who comes from the Scindia family that once ruled in Gwalior and is a Member of Parliament, representing the Guna constituency. In Chhattisgarh, even as CM Raman Singh tendered his resignation to the governor, taking the responsibility of BJP’s loss, Congress has still not come up with a name that would replace Singh as the CM. Names of three senior Congress leaders are doing rounds- Bhupesh Baghel, TS Singh Deo and Sahu and Tamardhwaj Sahu. Baghel is the chief of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee, Singhdeo is the current Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and Sahu is a strong OBC leader and a Lok Sabha member
