ABP-Cvoter Exit Poll Results 2021 LIVE: Currently, Assam is being governed by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA coalition. It had won 86 out of the 126 seats in Assam Assembly Elections of 2016. As the final phase of voting in West Bengal ends on 29 April 2021, all eyes would be on the ABP News-C Voter Exit Polls which has been accurately predicting the outcomes of various elections in India. The northeastern state Assam conducted elections in three phases starting March 27, April 1, and 6.

Out of the 126, the BJP is contesting 92 seats, Asom Gana Parishad 26 and United People’s Party Liberal 8 seats. On the other hand, the grand alliance in Assam consisting of eight parties will see Indian National Congress (INC) contesting on 94 seats, Badruddin Ajmal’s AIUDF on 14, Bodoland People’s Front on 12, and Communist Party of India (Marxist) on 2. Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, Ajit Kumar Buyan’s Anchalik Gana Morcha, and RJD is contesting on one seat each in Assam.

64 is the majority mark in the Assam Assembly. The state witnessed 79.93 per cent polling on 47 seats during the first phase on March 27 and 80.96 percent on 39 seats during the second phase on April 1.

Assam CVoter Exit Poll: UPA Only In Muslim Pockets?

Interestingly, despite securing 6% more votes, UPA is projected to grab lesser number of seats than NDA because the alliance is expected to garner maximum vote share in Muslim dominated regions only, NDA is likely to grab high vote share in most of the regions of the state

Assam CVoter Exit Poll: Congress Ahead In Vote Percentage

As per the survey projections, the vote share of Congress-led UPA is expected to witness a jump of 17.8% from 31% in 2016 to 48.8% in 2021. The vote share of BJP-led NDA is also likely to witness a marginal increase of 1.4% from 41.5% in 2016 to 42.9% of in 2021.

According to the exit poll data, BJP – led NDA is likely to retain power in a very close electoral contest in Assam. The survey data shows that despite a very close fight, after the Congress in Assam, formed a “Grand Alliance” with five parties, the coalition of opposition parties will not be able to dislodge the incumbent NDA in the state.
