Surat: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Darshana Vikram Jardosh from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 533190 votes. The polling / voting in Surat constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Darshana Jardosh and Congress Party#s Ashok adhevada

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Kashiram Rana attained 564601 votes and INC's Thakorbhai Naik bagged 260579 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Kashiram Rana attained 376933 votes and INC's Kotadia Manubhai bagged 201672 votes.

  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 26661 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Patel Chhaganbhai Devabhai attained 234263 votes and JNP candidate Ashok Ranjitram Mehta bagged 207602 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 21460 votes. Here, BLD leader Desai Morarji Ranchhodji attained 206206 votes and INC candidate Chauhan Jashvantsingh Dan Singh bagged 184746 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, NCO candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 31524 votes. Here, NCO leader Morarji Ranchhodji Desai attained 170321 votes and INC candidate Gordhandas Ranchhoddas Chokhawala bagged 138797 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated IND candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate M.R. Desai attained 163836 votes and IND's J.D. Chauhan bagged 40928 votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 99031 votes INC candidate Morarji Ranchhodji Desai had got 165225 while IND got Jaswantsinh Dansinh Chauhan votes.
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated IND candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Desai Morarji Ranchhodji attained 190563 votes and IND's Mehta Dinkarrao Krishnalal bagged 39076 votes.
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated SP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Desai Kanhaiyalal Nanabhai attained 244016 votes and SP's Desai Ishwarlal Chhotubhai bagged 126233 votes.

श्रीलंका में हमले पर राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद, प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी, ममता बनर्जी, अरविंद केजरीवाल समेत कई नेताओं ने दुख जताया है. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने श्रीलंका के राष्ट्रपति मैत्रीपाला सिरिसेना और प्रधानमंत्री रानिल विक्रमसिंघे से बात की. उन्होंने कहा, ''हमले हमारे देश और पूरी दुनिया में आतंकवाद द्वारा पूरी मानवता के लिए पेश की गई सबसे गंभीर चुनौती की याद दिलाते हैं.'' रूस, ब्रिटेन, अमेरिका, यरूशलम, पाकिस्तान ने कायरतापूर्ण हमले की निंदा की है. पोप फ्रांसिस ने श्रीलंका में ईसाइयों को निशाना बनाकर किये गये हमले के बीच इस साल ईस्टर पर प्रार्थना की.

श्रीलंका हमले में मरने वालों की संख्या 207 पहुंच गई है. अब तक किसी संगठन ने इन हमलों की जिम्मेदारी नहीं है. पुलिस ने अब तक इस मामले में 7 संदिग्धों को पकड़ा है.

श्रीलंका में सुबह 9 बजे जारी सिलसिलेवार धमाकों का सिलसिला अभी भी जारी है. कुछ मिनटों पहले 8वां धमाका हुआ. सरकार ने कोलंबो शहर में रात का कर्फ्यू लगाने का एलान किया है.

श्रीलंका में सातवां बम धमाका हुआ है. पुलिस का कहना है कि ताजा धमाके में दो लोग मारे गए हैं. सुबह 9 बजे सिलसिलेवार 6 धमाके हुए थे जिनमें 187 से ज्यादा मौतें हुई हैं. 300 ज्यादा लोग जख्मी हैं.

साल से सबसे बड़े आतंकी हमले में मौतों की संख्या लगातार बढ़ती ही जा रही है. इन बम धमाकों में मरने वालों की संख्या 180 के पार पहुंच गई है. वहीं घायलों की संख्या भी 500 से ज्यादा हो गई है.
