Background

Sikar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Sumedhanand Saraswati from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 239196 votes. The polling / voting in Sikar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Sumedhanand Saraswati and Congress Party#s Subhash maharia

Sikar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 25 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 54.9 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 30.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sikar, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Sumedhanand Saraswati of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Pratap Singh Jat by a margin of 239196 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 54683 votes BJP candidate Subhash Meharia had got 367546 while INC got Narayan Singh votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 28173 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Subhash Maharia attained 341445 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Balram bagged 313272 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 41322 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Subhash Mahariya attained 293502 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Hari Singh bagged 252180 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 38009 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Hari Singh attained 264523 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Subhash Maharia bagged 226514 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Balram attained 323153 votes and BJP's Harlal Singh Kharra bagged 212468 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 46756 votes. Here, JD leader Devi Lal attained 375855 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Balram bagged 329099 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Bal Ram attained 292132 votes and BJP's Ghanshyam Tiwari bagged 112573 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP(S) candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 34132 votes. Here, JNP(S) leader Kumbha Ram Arya attained 153218 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Shrikishna bagged 119086 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Jagdish Prasad Mathur attained 256672 votes and INC's Shri Kishan bagged 99479 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated BJS candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Shrikishan attained 212263 votes and BJS's Surendra Kumar Taparia bagged 78354 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, BJS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 20108 votes. Here, BJS leader S. Saboo attained 130945 votes and INC candidate T. Rameshwar bagged 110837 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JS candidate with a difference of 33107 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Rameshwarlal Tantia attained 88826 votes and JS candidate Sagar Mal bagged 55719 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and IND here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his IND counterpart with a difference of 9663 votes.
