Murshidabad: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Badaruddoza Khan from Communist Party of India (CPM) won the elections by a margin of 18453 votes. The polling / voting in Murshidabad constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Humayun Kabir and All India Trinamool Congress#s Janab Abu Taher Khan

Murshidabad 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

Out of the 12 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Murshidabad, 9 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Badaruddoza Khan of the Communist Party of India as he defeated Abdul Mannan Hossain by a margin of 18453 votes.

  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Moinul Hassan attained 463401 votes and INC's Anarul Hossain Khan bagged 272935 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 37185 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Masudal Hossain Syed attained 452273 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Anarul Hossain Khan bagged 415088 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Masudal Hossain Syed attained 382003 votes and INC's Ali Hossain Mondal bagged 269402 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 56544 votes CPM candidate Masudal Hossain Syed had got 368860 while INC got Azizur Rahman votes.

  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 20382 votes. Here, Independent leader Chowdhury Abu Taleb attained 93716 votes and IND candidate Syed Badrudduja bagged 73334 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 14966 votes. Here, Independent leader S. Badrudduja attained 141402 votes and INC candidate M. K. Bukhsh bagged 126436 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 19836 votes. Here, Independent leader Syed Badrudduja attained 102067 votes and INC candidate Abdus Sattar bagged 82231 votes
