The BJP on Wednesday released a list of six candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, dropping sitting MP Kirit Somaiya from Mumbai North East constituency and fielding in his place Manoj Kotak. The saffron party also gave a ticket to Bhojpuri actor Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirhua' from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh.

Modi in West Bengal: PM Modi hit out at TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee calling her 'speedbreaker' in the path of West Bengal's development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday, insisting she has to go to make way for the betterment of the state. Modi also took on the Congress over its manifesto that talks about reviewing some clauses of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), saying it acts like a 'shield' for the security forces in the fight against terrorists.

BSP supremo Mayawati termed the Congress manifesto as a 'showoff' and an 'illusion' and said there was no credibility of the promises made by the party due to its past.
