Ernakulam: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Prof. K.V. Thomas from Indian National Congress (INC) won the elections by a margin of 87047 votes. The polling / voting in Ernakulam constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Communist Party of India#s P Rajeev and Congress Party#s Hibi eden

Ernakulam 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 8 out of the 20 parliamentary seat with 31.1 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 5 seats with a 21.6 percent vote share.

  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Independent candidate by a margin of 74508 votes INC candidate Adv. George Eden had got 389387 while IND got Dr. Sebastian Paul votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 30385 votes. Here, Independent leader Xavier Arrakkal attained 335479 votes and Indian National Congress candidate K.V.Thomas bagged 305094 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Communist Party of India candidate with a difference of 47144 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader K.V. Thomas attained 362975 votes and Communist Party of India candidate V. Viswanatha Menon bagged 315831 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Independent candidate with a difference of 36465 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader K. V. Thomas attained 385176 votes and Independent candidate P. Subramnoian Poti bagged 348711 votes
