PM Modi In UAE: Prime Minister Meets First Batch Of Students From IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi Campus

On his UAE visit, PM Modi will also address the Indian diaspora at the ‘Alhan Modi’ event in Abu Dhabi, and also inaugurate the BAPS, the first Hindu stone temple in the country.

On his ongoing visit to the UAE (United Arab Emirates), PM Modi met and interacted with the first batch of students from the recently established Abu Dhabi campus of the IIT Delhi. Hailing the expansion of the IIT campus to the UAE, PM Modi said that this mutual cooperation not only scripts a new chapter in India-UAE bilateral collaboration, but also brings together youth from both the countries. 

Envisioned by the leaderships of India and UAE in 2022, the IIT Delhi Adbu Dhabi campus is a great symbolisation of collaborative efforts between the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) and Abu Dhabi Department of Education & Knowledge (ADEK). The campus is aimed at offering quality higher education to students globally. The institute will also facilitate and further the partnership between both the countries in the fields of next generation technology, research and innovation, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release. The institute commenced its first academic programme -  a Masters in Energy Transition and Sustainability, this January.

Earlier, PM Modi on Tuesday, arrived in Abu Dhabi, UAE, for a two-day visit to the gulf country. Upon his arrival, PM Modi was welcomed and greeted by UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and was also accorded Guard of Honour. This is PM Modi’s seventh visit to the UAE since 2014. 

"I thank you for the warm welcome. Whenever I come here to meet you, I always feel I have come to meet my family. We've met 5 times in the last 7 months, it's very rare and reflects our close relationship..." PM Modi said during his meeting with the UAE President, as per news agency ANI. 

During his visit, PM Modi exchanged several MoUs (Memorandums of Understanding) between India and UAE, in the presence of  UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and PM Modi, ANI reported.

During his visit, PM Modi will also address the India Diaspora at the ‘Ahlan Modi' event in Abu Dhabi. He will also be addressing the gathering of world leaders at the World Government Summit in Dubai on 14 Feb 2024 at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, PM, and Defence Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Later, PM Modi will also inaugurate the BAPS, the first Hindu stone temple in the country, as per PTI.
