‘Competition Among Students Should Always Be Healthy’: PM Modi At Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024
During his address to the students at the Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024, PM Modi asked teachers, parents, and students to create a stress-free environment.
Similar to past six years, PM Modi addressed and interacted with students in the Pariksha pe Charcha (PPC) 2024. The event is being held at the Bharat Mandapam for the first time, the building complex which hosted the G20 Summit in New Delhi during India’s G20 Presidency. During his address to the students at the Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024, PM Modi addressed and interacted several students, teachers, and parents present during the event, as well as those who connected to the event virtually. Here’s what PM Modi said addressing students in the PPC 2024:
Ways To Cope-Up With Exam Stress
Taking up questions during the event on how to cope up exam stress, PM Modi said that students should not unnecessarily overstress themselves with challenging targets leading up to exams. In his address, PM Modi said that we should not set stressing targets like if today I solved 7 questions, tomorrow I have to solve 8 questions. Because of such overthinking, we often stress ourselves with a cluttered mind which eventually leads to painting an easy task as ‘very difficult,’ most of the time.
Role Of Parents In Creating A Stress-Free Environment
He further underlined that it is the equal responsibility of teachers and parents to ensure a stress-free environment for students during exams. How families play their part in helping shape a positive mindset among students is very crucial and something that must be taken into consideration. Comparative remarks drawn by parents towards their children is a common sight, and something that starts instilling a sense of toxic competition among siblings, right from the family itself. Such practices must be avoided, PM Modi said.

Peer Pressure And Competition Among Students
In his response to a question on peer competition among students, PM Modi further said that what is that students compete with their counterparts? Everyone gets an equal opportunity of scoring a full mark of 100 in exams, which is the same for everyone. Instead, students should compete with themselves, pushing them further, and setting higher goals and benchmarks for themselves. He further said that instead of hyping and creating a buzz during exams that add to exam stress, examination period should be seen as just another regular day.
Role Of Teachers In Encouraging And Easing Stress For Students
On the role of teachers in motivating students, PM Modi said that teachers should not embark on establishing a connection with students during exams. Instead, right from the first day of the academic year, teachers should start building a healthy connection with students in order to avoid a tense and stress-free environment for students.
Dilemmas Around Career Choices
PM Modi further asked students to let go of confusion and instill confidence in themselves around career selection. To get rid of confusion around career choices and lack of decision making, he asked students to stop seeking validation advice on career choices from different people. Students can excel in any given field or domain considered if they have the confidence to excel in that particular area, he said.
