RRB Group D 2019: More than 3 Years Gone Recruitment Drive Still Underway, Aspirants Aghast Over Wait

RRB Group D: The Railway Recruitment Boards conducted the computer-based tests in multiple phases from August 17 to October 10, 2022.

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) Group D Recruitment 2019 results have been declared on December 23, 2022. Railway’s biggest recruitment drive has finally completed its first stage and now candidates await the dates of the physical efficiency test or PET.  The RRB Group D was the biggest job announcement made in 2019 right ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections. The RRB Group D 2019 Notification was released on February 23, 2019.

After more than 3 years, the Railway Recruitment Boards has just been able to conduct the first stage of computer-based tests in multiple phases from August 17 to October 10, 2022. As RRB recently declared the first stage result, it will probably take more time to complete the recruitment process.

Why Is Railway Taking So Much Time To Complete A Recruitment?

In a press conference in January this year, Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, ''We received 1.25 crore applications for group d and this is the biggest recruitment ever. So it takes time and it's a very huge task. First, we had trouble looking for an agency to conduct the exam on such a scale, then we were affected by the unprecedented pandemic. No wonder these factors took a toll on the recruitment process."

Creeping Process — Troubles For Aspirants

The number of RRB Group D vacancies was 1,03,769 as mentioned in the notification released in 2019. Reportedly, over 1.25 crore candidates applied for this massive recruitment drive. However, the sluggish process has caused several troubles for those aspirants.

"This Recruitment began in 2019 and till it is not completed. It's mentally painful. As this recruitment is not completed, Railway is not announcing any new vacancies. After Group D, there is no new vacancy announced. Before 2014, new vacancies were notified by the Railway every year. I request the government to complete the Group D recruitment as early as possible and release new vacancies and their calendar ...," said Saurabh Sinha, a resident of Patna while speaking to ABP Live.

Anand Rawat, a resident of Katni, Madhya Pradesh, told ABP Live: In 2019, when the Group D vacancy was released, then I decided that this time I have to grab this opportunity at any cost. I hail from a very humble background where I have been closely exposed to some of the most adverse conditions life could put one through. My parents used to hand-print. The Covid 19 pandemic severely affected our work and lives in 2021, I started working as a paper hawker to run my home. At first, the date of the paper was not announced, and then we raised the issue on social media. It was only then that the dates were released in February 2022. With the announcement of dates, we were also told that from now, there will be two papers in Railway Group D.’’

“After this, candidates protested on the ground and the government had to accept our demand. We were also told that from now there will be only one CBT, I made preparations faster, and my paper was held in Nagpur on September 5, 2022. The paper was fine, and I succeeded in the CBT, but it has been a long journey and I request the government to complete the upcoming recruitment within 1 year so that the candidates do not face any further problems.” He added.

An aspirant Sahil Namdev said, “Just as elections are conducted on time and their results are released on a predefined date to maintain the democratic space of the country, the government is requested not to delay the examination process so that the dream of a middle and lower class person to become a government employee could come true without any trouble.''

CBT Result Declared, What's Next?

Candidates who have cleared the Computer Based Test, now have to appear in the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The conduct of PET, Document Verification, Medical Examination, and publishing of Panel for Level-1 posts shall be carried out by the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) of the respective Zonal Railways. Accordingly, all future communication on these forthcoming activities for the shortlisted candidates of RRB Chennai shall be sent to you by the Chairperson of RRC, Southern Railway, Chennai whose official website address is www.rrcmas.in
