Jammu And Kashmir Educational Institutions To Remain Shut Till June 30 Due To Covid-19

According to the newly issued government directives, the varsities and colleges are allowed to summon in-person attendance of minimal staff for the research and laboratory work. However, the teaching staff is only allowed to hold the online classes from their homes. 

The Jammu and Kashmir government has extended the shutdown of all educational institutions across Jammu & Kashmir till June 30, 2021. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the covid-19 pandemic. “All Schools, Colleges, Universities, Technical Education / Skill Development Institutes and Coaching Centers shall remain closed for in-person / on-campus teaching,” reads an official statement.

The decision was taken in view of the trend in new cases particularly the recent spike in the number of daily reported cases of infection in some districts of J&K, the order underlined.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) had cancelled the JKBOSE class 10 and 12 board examination 2021 in view of the upsurge in covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir. The board will soon release the objective criterion based on which the results of the JKBOSE class 10 and 12 students will be finalized. On June 1, the CBSE decided to cancel the CBSE class 12 board examination in view of the covid-19 pandemic. The decision came after the high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the class 12 board examination was held on Tuesday evening.
