IGNOU Registration 2024 Begins For ODL BA Journalism And Digital Media Programme

IGNOU Registration 2024: IGNOU has invited applications for its new Bachelor in Journalism and Digital Media.

IGNOU Registration 2024: The Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU has started accepting applications for its new Bachelor in Journalism and Digital Media, a Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP). Interested students can apply on the official website at ignouiop.samarth.edu.in. The School of Journalism and New Media Studies at IGNOU offers this course in English Language at various major centers. The last date to apply for the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme is June 30, 2024. This new BA Journalism FYUP, introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, provides an opportunity for students to choose between a three-year honors programme and a four-year honors programme, with the option to include a research component.

The  BA Journalism FYUP programme will offer a total of 160 credits, while each semester consists of 20 credits and the programme will comprise eight semesters. Students will be given a maximum of eight years to complete the bachelor in Journalism and Digital Media programme, and for further information, students are advised to visit the official website at ignou.ac.in. According to the official website, the course fee is INR 10,600 per year, plus additional registration and development fees will be applicable.

The BA Journalism and Digital Media programme focuses on key areas like digital journalism, news reporting and editing, digital photography, audio-visual production, podcasting, internet research, data journalism, and designing news portals.

  • Students must have completed their class 12th or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • There is no specified age limit for this programme.

Digital journalism focuses on producing and managing news content online, while news reporting and editing include gathering, verifying, and presenting the news. Digital photography and AV production teach the technical and creative skills required for visual storytelling.
