CUET 2024 Exam: Students Hurled Stones At Kanpur College Over Alleged Paper Leak

CUET Exam Paper Leak: Some students alleged that even after the exam had officially ended, many students were still being made to solve the paper and remained at the center for a long time.

CUET Exam Paper Leak: A commotion erupted at Maharana Pratap Group of Colleges in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, during the evening shift of the CUET examination on Wednesday. Students created a ruckus, alleging that the exam papers had been leaked, with some even hurling stones on the college campus. As the situation escalated, police arrived at the scene to calm the students.

The CUET exam was conducted at Maharana Pratap College in the Mandhana area of the Chaubepur police station jurisdiction. The exam was conducted offline for hundreds of students. According to the students, despite the examination being officially over, some students were still being made to solve the paper. Those who had been present at the center for an extended period after the exam had concluded voiced their concerns.

In light of the tension on the college campus, a large police force has been deployed. However, there has been no response yet from the NTA or Maharana Pratap Group of Colleges regarding the entire incident.

Notably, the first-day test was conducted for Chemistry, Biology, English and General Tests all over India except 258 centres in Delhi. The total number of centres used across India is 2157. The number of candidates who wrote today's papers is as follows:

Chemistry: 643752 candidates in 1640 centres
Biology: 363067 candidates in 1368 centres
English: 862209 candidates in 2077 centres
General Studies: 721986 candidates in 1892 centres.

Since students write multiple tests, the above is equivalent to handling 2591014 students on a single day. This constitutes 44.71% of the total scheduled slots for students registered in pen-and-paper mode.

"This is a landmark achievement by NTA in conducting CUET-UG in such large numbers on a single day, and NTA deserves kudos for their meticulous planning and for making sure that the test today went off well today at such large scale in pen and paper mode," said M Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman UGC.
