CBSE Exams 2020: Board Approaches Delhi Police Over Fake News, Paper Leak Rumours

CBSE said that it has written to Delhi Police Special Cell to take stern action against persons involved in circulating fake news of paper leaks on social media platforms and creating panic amongst students and the general public.

New Delhi: In the wake of rumours being spread regarding exam paper leak on social media, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday approached Delhi Police and filed a complaint against the fake news. The board has also advised parents and students not to believe them and panic. CBSE said that it has written to Delhi Police Special Cell to take stern action against persons involved in circulating fake news of paper leaks on social media platforms and creating panic amongst students and the general public. "It has come to the notice of the Board that many anti-social elements are uploading fake messages like providing CBSE question papers and asking candidates to make payment posting, fake videos about leakage of CBSE questions papers on YouTube (List attached), thus misleading students and parents," stated the Board circular issued by Secretary Anurag Tripathi. "CBSE is also trying to ascertain the genuineness of information being received by tracing and contacting individuals making such complaints and has taken follow-up action for the security of ongoing exams," a senior CBSE official said. "We want cooperation of public not to believe or involve in the fake, unverified news and help in maintaining the sanctity of examinations at all cost," the official said. It further said that the Board is vigilant and active in identifying and taking action against those spreading fake news and rumours. So far action has been initiated against uses of various social media platforms and also individuals who are making false and baseless complaints. (with inputs from agencies)
