After MCD Win, AAP Calls National Council Meeting On Dec 18, Likely To Discuss 2024 LS Polls

The Aam Aadmi Party managed only one seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

After its recent win in the Delhi MCD polls, the Aam Aadmi party is now preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party has called a meeting of its National Council on Sunday, December 18 to discuss the matter.

The meeting will be attended by representatives from across the country and state leaders over the strategy for the 2024 General Elections. The party won only one seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The winning candidate was Bhagwant Mann from Sangrur, Punjab.

In the recently concluded assembly polls in Gujarat and Himachal, AAP was able to make in-roads in the former while it could not open account in the hill state. The party won 5 seats in Gujarat.

It also took control of the MCD from BJP which ruled the civic body for 15 long years. AAP won 134 wards while BJP got 104.

MCD Elections

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed the MCD win by his party "a big win".

Addressing people at the party office in Delhi after the victory in the elections, Kejriwal congratulated the people of Delhi and thanked them for bringing change. "I congratulate the people of Delhi for this win and thank them for bringing change," Kejriwal said. The Aam Aadmi Party crossed the halfway mark gaining a majority in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections on Wednesday, thus uprooting the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 15-year-long rule in the city's civic body.
