AAP Will Launch Next Phase Of 'Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se' Campaign On May 13, Says Gopal Rai

The AAP will hold a Trade Town Hall event in East Delhi, a Mahila Samvad event in New Delhi, a Purvanchal Samagam in South Delhi, and a Gramin Panchayat in West Delhi.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to kickstart the next phase of its 'Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se' campaign for the Lok Sabha polls on May 13, in the four Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies from where it has fielded its candidates, party leader Gopal Rai said on Wednesday. The next phase, he added, will involve events such as 'Mahila Samvad (dialogue with women)' and Trade Town Hall.

The campaign is built around the AAP's protest against national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The idea is to challenge this action of the central agencies by eliciting a resounding vote for the party.

At a press conference, Rai, the AAP's Delhi convenor, said the party has so far organised a door-to-door campaign, Sankalp Sabha events, and roadshows featuring Sunita Kejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal's wife, as part of the campaign.

"Under the campaign, we went from door to door against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. Now, we will enter the next phase of the campaign that will be run from May 13 to May 23," PTI quoted Rai as saying.

Rai said while the Trade Town Hall event will first be held in East Delhi, the Mahila Samvad programme will take place in New Delhi. Other initiatives planned include a 'Purvanchal Samagam (Purvanchal gathering)' in South Delhi, and a 'Gramin Panchayat' in West Delhi.

Delhi Goes To Polls On May 25

These events have been chosen to engage with diverse demographics that hold significant sway in the elections. Rai emphasised that each of these events will be expanded to other constituencies as well.

For instance, while the Mahila Samvad begins in New Delhi, it will eventually encompass East Delhi too.

The seat-sharing arrangement between the Congress and the AAP in Delhi has resulted in the former fielding candidates from three Lok Sabha seats, and the AAP from the remaining four. All seats are currently held by the BJP.

Delhi is scheduled to go to polls in the sixth phase of the seven-phase election, on May 25. Votes will be counted on June 4.
