Shraddha Murder Gets Murky But 'Chess Keeps Calm Aftab Busy In Jail'. Cops Expect 'Twist' Soon

Shraddha Walkar murder case: Senior officers of Delhi Police had said that Aftab Poonawala seemed to be playing mind games with them during the remand period.

New Delhi: In a new revelation about Shraddha Walkar murder accused Aftab Poonawala, Tihar jail sources say that he is fond of chess and plays solo.

According to jail sources, two more accused are lodged in Aftab's cell on charges of theft. Both these thieves are fond of playing chess and there is a chess set in his cell.

According to sources, Aftab does not talk to anyone. But when these two thieves play chess, he constantly stares at the chess as if to asses their moves. When he gets time, Aftab starts playing chess alone, they said.

Senior officers of Delhi Police had also said that Aftab seemed to be playing mind games with them during the remand period.

Talking to ABP News off-camera, a top police officer had said that a major twist will come in this case in the coming. But what it will be and when it will be unveiled cannot be said.

From the beginning of the probe, it is said that Aftab was continuously confusing the police with his stories and the investigation went astray.

According to jail sources, Aftab appears to be calm in jail. Most of the time, h said to be sleeping when he is in his cell. The accused does not give away any signs of fear or remorse.

Mehrauli Killing: FSL Team In Tihar For Post-Narco Analysis Of Accused Aaftab Poonawala

A four-member team of the Forensic Science Laboratory reached Tihar Jail on Friday along with the investigating officer of the Shraddha Walkar murder case for a post-narco analysis session of accused Aftab Amin Poonawala, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.

They said the FSL team and the officer arrived in Central Jail No. 4 for a 'post-test interview' with Aftab.

After the session, Aftab will be informed about the replies he gave in his narco-analysis test on Thursday. This arrangement has been made as per court order in view of the risks involved in his transportation, the officials informed.

Poonawala's narco analysis test, which went on for more than two hours at a Rohini hospital, was completely successful.

PTI reported sources in the FSL as saying that the answers which the accused gave during the narco test and a polygraph test held earlier will be analysed, and he would be informed about his replies as well.

28-year-old Aftab Poonawala allegedly strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and cut her body into 35 pieces which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in South Delhi's Mehrauli before dumping them across the city over several days.

The Delhi Police had earlier said it sought Poonawala's narco analysis test as his responses during interrogation were "deceptive" in nature. The Supreme Court has ruled that narco-analysis, brain mapping, and polygraph tests cannot be conducted on any person without his or her consent.

Also, statements made during this test are not admissible as primary evidence in the court, except under certain circumstances when the bench thinks that the facts and nature of the case permit it.

The accused was arrested on November 12 and sent to five-day police custody, which was further extended by five days on November 17. The court on November 26 sent him to judicial custody for 13 days.
