2-Year-Old Boy Killed In Noida After Celebratory Firing During Wedding, Shooter Flees Spot

In Noida, a man fled a wedding procession when he allegedly opened celebratory fire which killed a 2-year-old body.

A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was killed when a man allegedly opened celebratory fire during a ‘barat’ (wedding procession) in Noida, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. As per a PTI report, the incident occurred around 10 pm in Agahpur village when a ‘barat’ wedding procession was going on at the residence of Balveer Singh.

However, the man who opened fire, fled the scene, as per a Times Now report. A case has been registered against the accused and efforts are on to arrest him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ram Badan Singh stated that during the wedding procession, a man named Happy, claiming to be from the groom's village, opened fire. According to the police, Vikas Sharma and his family were watching the procession from their balcony when a bullet struck his child. The boy was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment, the DCP added, as per PTI.

The police detained the groom for several hours at the local station for questioning but was released after his father arrived to clarify the situation.

Another official statement released by DCP Noida on the official X account of Gautam Buddh Nagar with the caption, "A child was shot during celebratory firing during a wedding procession in village Agahpur under police station sector-49 and died during treatment. A case has been registered in police station sector-49 Noida and a team has been formed to arrest the accused."

In another incident, a three-year-old boy was killed after his 13-year-old brother accidentally fired a loaded gun at their home in Dondemadihalli, Nagamangala taluk, Mandya district in Karnataka according to a report by the Hindustan Times. The deceased was the child of migrant labourers from Assam, who had been employed at a poultry farm owned by Congress leader Narasimhamurthy, where the incident occurred.

The children were playing when the elder brother found a loaded gun, which belonged to the poultry farm owner, kept on a shelf in the house for security purposes. While playing with it, the boy accidentally discharged the weapon, hitting the younger child in the abdomen. The bullet caused severe injuries, and his mother was also injured in the incident.
