Varanasi Shocker: Missing Teen Raped By 23 Men Over 7 Days; 6 Arrested

A 19-year-old woman from Varanasi was allegedly gang-raped by 23 men over seven days after she went missing from home on March 29.

Six men were arrested by police in Varanasi after a 19-year-old woman alleged that 23 men raped her over seven days after she went missing from home on March 29. 

The teen returned home on April 4 and narrated her ordeal to the family who then contacted the police, reported The Times of India. 

The woman, a resident of a locality under the Pandeypur Lalpur police station, was reported missing on March 29. After her return, she alleged she was held captive and sexually assaulted multiple times by 23 men during the seven days she had gone missing from her home. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police Varuna Zone, Chandrakant Mina said that an FIR has been lodged based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother. 

Raj Vishwakarma, Samir, Ayush, Sohel, Danish, Anmol, Sazid, Zaheer, Imran, Zaib, Aman, Raj Khan, and 11 unidentified persons have been booked in the FIR. 

The named and unidentified accused have been charged under section 70(1) (gang rape), 74 (outraging modesty), 123 (administering poison or harmful substance), 126(2) (obstructing movement), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of BNS.

Accused Drugged, Raped Victim Several Times 

According to the complaint filed by the mother, the victim had gone to a friend's house on March 29 and encountered Raj Vishwakarma on the way back. He took her to a cafe and raped her overnight. 

The next day, she met Sameer and his friends on the road who again raped her near the highway and left her at Nadesar. On March 31, she met Sohel, Anmol, Danish, Sajid, and Zahir, who drugged her and raped her in a cafe. 

On April 1, she was taken to a hotel by Sajid and his friends where she was asked to massage a client who raped her and was raped again by Imran after leaving the hotel. The next day she managed to escape from a warehouse in Aurangabad and sat in front of a mall at Sigra. She met Raj Khan and his friends at the mall who offered her noodles which were already drugged. Later Raj raped her and left her at Assi Ghat.

Victim Narrates Ordeal

On April 3, she went to her friend's house where she fell asleep due to intoxicants. In the evening she met Danish who took her to a hotel and raped her along with his friends including Sohail, Shoaib and another person. 

She went to her friend's house and returned home on April 4, narrating her ordeal to the family. 

The DCP said that a case was registered based on the mother's complaint who approached the police not the same day when the victim returned home. 

Three police teams are tracking the other accused to arrest them, he added.
