TMC MLA Babul Supriyo And BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly Engaged In Heated Argument On Kolkata's Road
West Bengal minister Babul Supriyo and BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly clashed on the roads of Kolkata, as Supriyo claimed that the BJP MP's driver was driving carelessly.
The roads of Kolkata witnessed a political showdown on Friday night, when West Bengal minister Babul Supriyo and BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly clashed with each other on the road.
As per the details, the incident occured at around 10 p.m., when Trinamool Congress MLA Babul Supriyo was on his way back to his residence in Howrah. The TMC MLA got annoyed by the continuous honking from the car which was behind his vehicle, as reported by India Today.
Babul Supriyo, then, stopped his vehicle and went to the car behind him, asking for an explanation for the careless driving. Babul claimed that he asked the driver of the other car about the reckless driving, as it may lead to accident, a report from TV 9 Hindi says. Later, he found out that the vehicle belonged to newly elected BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly. Abhijit Ganguly was seated at the back of his car.
As per Babul Supriyo, when he went to talk to BJP MP about the erratic driving by the latter's driver, the MP told Supriyo that whatever his driver did, it was fine. The TMC MLA also claimed that the BJP MP hurled abuses at him.
While speaking to India Today about the incident, Babul Supriyo said he just asked Ganguly to ask his driver not to drive rashly and stop repeated honking.
"When I said this, he started abusing me. I also got angry and reminded him that he was a former (Calcutta High Court) judge. He also directed his security officials to arrest me. They surrounded me as if I was going to hit him. The whole time he continued threatening me," Supriyo said, while talking to India Today.
However, the BJP MP has claimed that if there was reckless driving, then the police would have taken the action.
Babul Supriyo is currently serving as the Cabinet Minister of Information Technology and Electronics in the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal Government. Earlier, Supriyo was an MP from BJP. However, he joined TMC in 2021.
