26 Tourists Killed In Terrorist Attack In J&K's Pahalgam Ahead Of Amarnath Yatra

A group of tourists was fired upon in Baisaran valley of Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. Some tourists were injured. Security forces have launched a search operation to hunt down the terrorists.

A group of tourists from Rajasthan was fired upon in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The incident occurred in the upper reaches of the Baisaran Valley.

26 people, , mostly tourists, have been killed in the terror attack said to be deadliest attack in Kashmir since the Pulwama strike in 2019. 

They said that there were 2-3 terrorists who fired over 50 rounds of bullets. Security forces have been rushed to the area.

Sources said it was a terrorist attack. The attack comes just ahead of the Amarnath Yatra. A massive search has been launched in the area to hunt down the terrorists.

Security has been on high alert in Jammu and Kashmir since Pakistan Army chief's remarks, in which he said that India and Pakistan were "completely different".

The alert was sent to security forces by a woman who called the PCR. The police have confirmed that five persons have been injured.

Notably, this is the peak period of J&K's tourism. As such, cross-border terrorists are believed to be attempting to spoil the Amarnath Yatra by launching attacks.

Pahalgam On Amarnath Yatra Route

Pahalgam is J&K's third-largest tourism city after Kashmir and Gulmarg. Moreover, it is on one of the two routes that devotees take during the Amarnath Yatra.

The Amarnath Yatra comprises two routes. The first one is via Pahalgam and the other passes through Baltal.

Amarnath Yatra Route 1: Jammu -> Pahalgam -> Chandanwari -> Pissu Top ->Sheshnag -> Panchtarni -> Holy Cave

Amarnath Yatra Route 2: Jammu -> Baltal -> Domail -> Barari -> Holy Cave

Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 will commence on July 3 and end on August 9, 2025.
