Telangana: 6-Year-Old Sexually Assaulted By Teacher, Protests Erupt At Kamareddy School

During the demonstrations, four police officers were injured in a scuffle with protestors demanding action against the school authorities.

A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a Physical Education (PET) teacher at a school in Kamareddy town, Telangana. This incident triggered protests on Tuesday, leading to heightened tensions in the area.

During the demonstrations, four police officers were injured in a scuffle with protestors, as per a report on Times of India. The victim's family, including her parents, led the protest, demanding accountability from the school authorities.

The accused has been identified as PET teacher Nagaraju. Kamareddy Superintendent of Police Sindhu Sharma confirmed that a complaint was lodged on Monday regarding the alleged assault at Jeevadhan School, as reported by India Today. Following the complaint, a case was filed under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with Nagaraju currently in police custody.

As the protesters marched towards the local police station to press for action, the situation escalated, prompting police to use lathi charge to disperse the crowd.

Additionally, cases were registered against two individuals for spreading false information on social media regarding the incident.

Quoting the incident, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi demanded to take swift action. He said, "A PET teacher molested a girl child in Jeevadan School, Kamareddy. I spoke to the SP and emphasised the need for an urgent response. The SP has assured me that strict action is being taken against all those responsible"

Earlier this month, a six-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by his neighbour in Govindpuri of Delhi.
