Minor Girl Kidnapped, Gang-Raped In Janani Express Ambulance In MP's Mauganj, Two Nabbed
Police stated that the accused identified as Virendra Chaturvedi, ambulance driver, and his friend Rajesh Kewat were arrested on Wednesday night.
A 16-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped and gang-raped by two men in a moving ambulance in the Mauganj district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday (November 25), according to police.
According to a report by news agency IANS, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Hanumana police station, approximately 30 km from the Mauganj district headquarters. Hanumana tehsil, part of the newly established Mauganj district, shares its border with Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the victim, two men abducted her and forced her into a Janani Express Ambulance, where she was gang-raped. The ambulance, also known as the "108 Ambulance," is a state government-operated service under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

It is designed to provide emergency transportation for expectant mothers, sick infants, and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in rural Madhya Pradesh. Police stated that the accused identified as Virendra Chaturvedi, ambulance driver, and his friend Rajesh Kewat were arrested on Wednesday night.
Both the accused are residents of Naigarhi tehsil in Mauganj district, located approximately 50 km from Hanumana tehsil where this alleged occurred place.
"Victim had lodged an FIR on November 25, alleging that she was gang-raped. The medical test confirmed rape and a search was initiated. Both accused persons have been arrested from Nagari on Wednesday," said Sarna Thakur, Mauganj Superintendent of Police (SP). Further details on the case are awaited.
Newlywed Woman Gang-Raped In Madhya Pradesh
This shocking incident comes just a month after a similar case in neighbouring Rewa district, where a newlywed woman was gang-raped on October 21. The woman had been on a picnic with her husband in the Gurh town when she was kidnapped and then gang-raped. Eight individuals were arrested in connection with the case.
Mauganj, formerly a tehsil of Rewa district, became an independent district in 2023, comprising three tehsils: Mauganj, Naigarhi, and Hanumana.
