Trapped In Middle Of Tawi Flash Flood, Jammu Man Holds On To Rope For Life: Video

A man is stranded in the Tawi river in Jammu after a flash flood caused by heavy rainfall. He was collecting silt with a group when the river surged, leaving him clinging to a rope under a bridge.

A man is hanging on to dear life in Jammu. The man is stuck in the middle of the Tawi river in Jammu. The man got stranded when a flash flood hit the area. The river is in spate as the water level rose due to overnight rainfall.

The man was part of a group that had gone to collect silt from the river bed. When the group had descended the banks, there was no water, locals told ABP. However, the floodwaters suddenly rushed in, leaving the man stranded under a bridge. The others managed to clamber to safety.

The stuck man was seen holding onto a towel suspended from a rope tied to a pillar of the bridge for balance. He was standing in knee-deep floodwaters.

The latest visuals showed an SDRF team chalking out a strategy to pull up the man using a rope. The SDRF team reached the spot nearly 30 minutes after the man was left stranded. SDRF Jammu chief Om Prakash said: "We are working on a plan to bring him up. However, the fast-flowing Tawi is a matter of concern."

The water level of the river is continuously rising due to heavy rainfall in the hilly areas.  Some people present at the spot also tried to save the person before the SDRF arrived.

Daring Rescue By SDRF

Eventually, the SDRF team pulled the man out of the water. A member of the SDRF team climbed down a ladder and secured the man, before pulling him up. An SDRF jawan said: "He was weeping in relief when we pulled him to safety."

Rain Brings Relief From Heat; Water Levels Rise In Chenab

After continuous rainfall from late Monday night to Tuesday morning, temperatures dropped significantly across the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Light showers continued into Tuesday afternoon, bringing much-needed relief from the heat.

The impact of the rain was widespread, affecting nearly all parts of the district. On Wednesday, hill areas remained shrouded in mist. The rainfall also led to a rise in the water levels of the Chenab River and several smaller streams.

Cool winds and pleasant weather brought a sense of relief to residents, offering a welcome break from the summer heat.

The water levels in Jammu and Kashmir rivers, however, are a concern. The rivers are swelling and several cities have sounded safety alerts.
