Air Force Jaguar Aircraft Crashes In Ambala During Routine Sortie, Pilot Ejected Safely

An Indian Air Force Jaguar aircraft crashed in Ambala during a training sortie due to a system malfunction.

A Jaguar aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed in Haryana's Ambala district on Friday during routine sortie, said the IAF in a social media post. The crash occurred due to a system malfunction and the pilot maneuvered the aircraft away from any habitation on the ground before ejecting safely. 

"A Jaguar aircraft of the IAF crashed at Ambala, during a routine training sortie today, after encountering system malfunction. The pilot maneuvered the aircraft away from any habitation on ground, before ejecting safely. An inquiry has been ordered by the IAF, to ascertain the cause of the accident," said the IAF in the social media post. 

Past Incidents 

Last month, an Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri during routine sortie. A Court of Inquiry was ordered to ascertain the cause of the crash of the twin-seater Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft. 

Both the pilots had ejected safely from the aircraft and there were no casualties reported in the incident. 

Video of the aftermath of the incident showed debris of the aircraft caught up in flames while hundreds of people gathered at the crash site.

Last year November, an Indian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet spiralled uncontrollably downwards in a flat spin in Uttar Pradesh's Agra, moments before the crash. 

As per the IAF, the aircraft suffered a "system malfunction" before the crash. The pilots had ejected safely from the aircraft which they veered away from populated areas to prevent any casualties on the ground.
