On Cam: Delhi Man, Nephew Shot Dead While Celebrating Diwali At Home; 10-Year-Old Son Injured In Firing

A 40-year-old man and his nephew were shot dead while his son was injured after two armed men opened fire outside their residence in Delhi's Shahdara.

Delhi News: Diwali festivities turned tragic for a family in Delhi's Shahdara, who lost two members of their family after two armed men opened fire outside their residence on Thursday. Forty-year-old Akash Sharma alias Chottu and his 16-year-old nephew Rishabh Sharma were killed in the incident that happened while the victims were celebrating Diwali outside their house in Shahdara's Farsh Bazar area around 8 pm.

Akash Sharma's 10-year-old son Krish Sharma also sustained bullet injuries in the firing, according to police.

"On receiving a PCR call at about 8:30 pm, a police team was dispatched. The team found blood at the spot," the official said.

As per eyewitnesses, the assailants came on a scooter and touched Akash Sharma's feet before opening fire at him. His son Krish and nephew Rishabh, who were standing nearby, were also hit by bullets.

All the victims were rushed to a hospital, police said, adding that Akash Sharma and Rishabh Sharma were declared dead by doctors at the hospital while Krish Sharma was undergoing treatment.

The incident was caught on camera and has left residents in panic. Akash's wife reportedly told police that she knew the attackers, adding that there had been a dispute between them over land for many years.

"Upon reaching the spot, it was known that Akash, his nephew Rishabh and his son Krish were shot. Akash and Rishabh have lost their lives. In the preliminary investigation, we have found that five rounds of bullets were fired," DCP Shahdara Prashant Gautam told news agency ANI.

As per police, prima facie, it seemed to be a case of personal enmity. Statements of the victims' family members will be recorded and further investigations are underway, they added.
