Virendra Sachdeva To Remain Delhi BJP President

Following 2 years in the role, Virendra Sachdeva will continue to be the Delhi BJP state president.

Virendra Sachdeva will remain in his role as the Delhi BJP president.

Amid the discussions about an election for a new national president, talks regarding potential changes in various state leaderships. However, in Delhi, it seems unlikely that Sachdeva’s positions will change. He took the role in 2023.

Sachdeva is the first party leader from a Punjabi background in the last 13 years to hold the post. Sachdeva, 55, had been serving as the working president of the Delhi BJP after taking over from Adesh Gupta, who resigned following the party’s defeat in the MCD elections last year.

Roles Before Delhi BJP Party President

Sachdeva has been impressive in his short stint as the party’s Delhi working president since Gupta’s removal from the position.

He is described as a low-profile yet deeply committed organisation man who has managed to foster a sense of unity within the Delhi BJP, a unit often fragmented by competing local heavyweights. Before his elevation as Delhi BJP president, Sachdeva held various posts in the party organisation, including state vice president and president of Chandni Chowk and Mayur Vihar district units.

Sachdeva was also a former treasurer of the Archery Association of India and president of the Delhi Archery Association. He was the manager of the Indian team that participated in the Rio Olympics.

He rose through the ranks in the party after starting his political life as an RSS volunteer in his early years.
