BPSC Row: Prashant Kishor Ends 14-Day Hunger Strike By Taking Dip In Ganga — VIDEO

Kishor stated that his ‘Satyagraha’ will continue in support of civil service aspirants and the youth of the state, as well as against the alleged ‘authoritarian’ approach of the state government.

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor ended his fast unto death after 14 days on Thursday. He had been on 'fast-unto-death' since January 2 in protest against alleged irregularities in a competitive exam held by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13 last year.

However, Kishor stated that his ‘Satyagraha’ will continue in support of civil service aspirants and the youth of the state, as well as against the alleged ‘authoritarian’ approach of the state government.

“The matter, seeking the cancellation of the BPSC’s 70th Combined Competitive exam held on December 13, is being heard by the Patna High Court today. It’s a coincidence that I am calling off my fast unto death on a day when the matter is being heard before the court. We are quite hopeful that job aspirants will get justice from the Patna High Court. If they don’t get justice, we will knock on the door of the Supreme Court," Kishor said, news agency PTI reported.

Prashant Kishor Takes Dip In Ganga, Performs Puja

Kishor began his fast-unto-death on January 2, demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam. Before ending his hunger strike at his party's camp office, Kishor took a dip in the Ganga river and performed a puja.

As he ended the fast, Kishor was offered fruit juice by his party workers. The camp office is located at LCT Ghat, situated along the Ganga River.

The 47-year-old was hospitalised in a private facility last week, a day after being arrested by the police for organising a dharna at a restricted site in the city. He was granted bail by a court just hours later. Kishor spent a day in the ICU before being moved to the general ward and was ultimately discharged on January 11 as his condition improved.
