Bihar Home Guard Candidate Gangraped In Moving Ambulance After Fainting During Test

The ambulance driver and technician were arrested based on her statement and CCTV footage. The incident sparked outrage, with investigations ongoing and political condemnation law and order.

In a shocking incident from Bihar’s Gaya district, a 26-year-old woman participating in a Home Guard recruitment drive was allegedly gang-raped in a moving ambulance after collapsing during a physical test.

The assault reportedly took place on July 24 at the Bihar Military Police grounds in Bodh Gaya, where the recruitment exercise was being held. According to police, the woman fainted while undergoing a physical endurance test and was being transported to a hospital when the alleged crime occurred, reported NDTV.

Ambulance Driver, Technician Arrested

The woman later informed hospital staff and police that she was sexually assaulted by multiple individuals inside the ambulance while she was unconscious. Based on her statement, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Bodh Gaya police station.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was promptly formed, and a forensic team deployed. Within hours, two suspects — ambulance driver Vinay Kumar and technician Ajit Kumar — were arrested. Both are currently in police custody and being interrogated, as per the report. 

Officials confirmed that CCTV footage helped track the ambulance’s route, corroborating parts of the survivor’s statement.

Partially Conscious During Assault

The woman told police that while she was unconscious for most of the journey, she regained partial awareness and believed three to four men were involved in the assault, as per the report.

Political Reaction

The incident has triggered outrage, with Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Chirag Paswan condemning the Bihar government over the deteriorating law and order. “This horrific crime reflects the failure of the state’s policing system,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities assuring strict action against those found guilty, the report added.
