In a shocking incident from Bihar’s Gaya district, a 26-year-old woman participating in a Home Guard recruitment drive was allegedly gang-raped in a moving ambulance after collapsing during a physical test.

According to police, the woman fainted while undergoing a physical endurance test and was being transported to a hospital when the alleged crime occurred, reported NDTV.

The woman later informed hospital staff and police that she was sexually assaulted by multiple individuals inside the ambulance while she was unconscious. Based on her statement, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Bodh Gaya police station.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was promptly formed, and a forensic team deployed. Within hours, two suspects — ambulance driver Vinay Kumar and technician Ajit Kumar — were arrested. Both are currently in police custody and being interrogated, as per the report.

Officials confirmed that CCTV footage helped track the ambulance’s route, corroborating parts of the survivor’s statement.

The incident has triggered outrage, with Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Chirag Paswan condemning the Bihar government over the deteriorating law and order. “This horrific crime reflects the failure of the state’s policing system,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities assuring strict action against those found guilty, the report added.
