The man has yet to be identified. Bengaluru South Police have registered a case in the matter and are going through CCTV footage to identify him.

A Bengaluru woman was attacked and molested on Friday while out for a morning walk at 5 am. The attack was caught on CCTV camera, with the viral video showing how the woman fought off her attacker as he attempted to overpower her and cover her mouth to muffle her voice.

The man has yet to be identified. According to an NDTV report, the Bengaluru South Police have registered a case in the matter and are going through the CCTV footage to identify him.

The video begins by showing the woman standing at the other end of the road from where the camera is placed. A few seconds in, a man in a white shirt is seen creeping up on her and grabbing her from behind. A struggle ensues and the woman manages to free herself. But as she walks down the road to get away from him, he chases her down and catches hold of her again. As she fights him off, he tries to cover her mouth while locking his other arm around her neck.

As the woman manages to free herself, he runs away in the same direction he came from.

Lucknow Woman Groped On Flooded Road

Last week, a similar incident was reported from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow as heavy rains left its roads flooded. A viral video showed a group of men splashing water on a motorcycle as it waded through a waterlogged road. The men were seen surrounding the motorcycle and pulling it from behind. Amid the commotion, as the man driving the motorcycle attempted to push through, at least one of the perpetrators groped the woman riding pillion. The men ceased pulling the motorcycle only when the woman fell off.

Police later said the men involved had been booked under sections 191(2) (rioting) and 74 (assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), among others, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The UP government also swung into action, and took action against eight police personnel, including a deputy commissioner of police, for alleged negligence. While 5 police personnel, including the local police station in-charge, were suspended, the deputy commissioner of police (east Lucknow), additional DCP, and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) were tranferred, an official statement said.
