UP: Auraiya Restaurant Owners Arrested, Café Sealed For Secretly Filming Customers, Posting Videos On Social Media

Police said after the investigation, the restaurant owner and his partner were arrested under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the restaurant was also sealed.

A restaurant owner and his business partner were arrested in the Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh after police received a complaint about them for allegedly recording videos of their customers secretly. 

Acting on a complaint, police launched a probe that uncovered separate cabins in the Jayka Café & Pizza Corner. The restaurant owners identified as Hasnain and Ayaan had drilled holes in the cabin doors to secretly record customers and later shared the videos on social media.

According to a report by India Today, police said after the investigation, the restaurant owner and his partner were arrested under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the restaurant was also sealed.

"A complaint was received against a restaurant named Jayka Café & Pizza Corner alleging that private cabins were built inside it where customers used to sit and eat. In these cabins, small holes had been made to secretly record videos of the customers. The allegations were found true in the problem, following which the restaurant was sealed and its owners were arrested," Auraiya's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bharat Paswan said.

He further added, "The recorded videos were allegedly shared and made viral by the hub operators." Following their arrest, Hasnain and Ayaan were presented in court and sent to judicial custody.

The girl, visiting from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, with her parents, spotted the device in recording mode attached to a pipe after dinner.

According to a report by TOI, after the discovery, police arrested 20-year-old restaurant housekeeping staff member Pratik Anjani. He was charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 77 for voyeurism, as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology Act.
