'Kejriwal Can Be Anything, But He Is Not Corrupt': AAP Leader Lashes Out At Centre In Delhi Assembly

Kejriwal, who was seated next to Manish Sisodia, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he may be powerful and has lot of resources, but he is not God.

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday hit out at the BJP government for obstructing the functioning of the AAP government in Delhi. 

In his first speech in Delhi Assembly after walking out of Tihar jail earlier this month, the AAP leader said, "Kejriwal can be anything, but he is not corrupt."

The former Delhi CM lashed out at the BJP accusing it of stalling the state government schemes like old age pension, pilgrimage for elderly, and free medicines at hospitals, among others. He reiterated he has no greed for power and that he joined politics to serve the country.

"I always say PM Modi is very powerful and has a lot of resources but Modi is not God but the God who is there is with us. I want to thank the Supreme Court," the former Delhi CM said.

He also said that the opposition might be sad to see him and Manish Sisodia sitting in the Delhi Assembly. He further said that even after putting 5 senior AAP leaders in jail, the party is standing stronger.  

"They filed a fake case against me, put Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Sanjay Singh, Vibhav and Vijay Nair in jail. Even after putting five top leaders in jail, our party is standing strong today. I challenge you to put 2 people of your party in jail and your party will break. They put such a strict law on me, in which even bail is not granted. Despite that, the Supreme Court granted me bail and today we are sitting here," Kejriwal said.

Speaking on his resignation, the former CM said that he stepped from the CM's chair on his own and added that the people of Delhi would vote for him if he is honest. He said people vote for those who work for them and not those who stall work.

"When I was released from jail, I resigned, nobody asked me to do so, I resigned on my own. If the people of Delhi think Kejriwal is honest then vote for me, otherwise don't vote for me," he said. 

Days after coming out of Tihar on bail in the excise policy case, Kejriwal resigned as chief minister, saying he would return to the post after getting a certificate of honesty from the people of Delhi in the assembly polls due in February.
