Young Graduate’s Candid Post On Post-College Struggles Strikes A Chord Online; Check Here

Despite the hardships, Chintamneedi stressed that his post was not meant to complain. Rather, he intended to show empathy and connection with others facing similar struggles.

Gaurav Chintamneedi, an assistant store manager in Virginia and a recent graduate of Chapman University, has struck a chord with thousands on LinkedIn after sharing a raw and personal account of the challenges he has faced transitioning from college life to a demanding corporate role.

In a heartfelt post, Chintamneedi opened up about his first year in the professional world, calling it “one of the most challenging” periods of his life. He detailed the emotional and physical toll his work has taken on him, highlighting the contrast between his idealistic expectations and the tough reality of long hours and limited free time.

Shattering The 9-To-5 Illusion

“When I first arrived in the DMV, I imagined living the dream early-20s life—like the ones we see on TV or romanticise on social media,” he wrote. Instead of the social and vibrant lifestyle he had envisioned—one filled with after-work meetups, new friendships, and skill-building side projects—Chintamneedi has found himself working 50 to 60 hours a week, often waking up at 3 am for early shifts, and spending most weekends at work.

On the few days he does get off, exhaustion often keeps him from doing anything meaningful. “I found myself lying in bed doomscrolling on Instagram,” he admitted, noting that the physical fatigue also came with a sense of isolation and emotional fatigue, especially being far from friends and family.

A Message Of Solidarity

Despite the hardships, Chintamneedi stressed that his post was not meant to complain. Rather, he intended to show empathy and connection with others facing similar struggles. “If you’re also in your first year post-grad and struggling to adjust, you are not alone,” he said. “The feelings of doubt, disconnection, or disillusionment are more common than we think.”

His candid message has resonated with a broad audience online, especially among recent graduates and young professionals, many of whom commented that his story reflected their own experience. “Thank you for posting this! This was so encouraging, especially since I just graduated a few weeks ago!” wrote one of the LinkedIn users.

A second user added, “Love the introspection and advice G! As you've said, the 20's is undoubtedly a challenging time for many of us. There's so many changes and adjustments that happen, that it's ultimately important to adopt these healthy mindsets you've laid out. You've truly grown so much this past year, and your resilience and other skills you've learned will serve you well!”
