WATCH: First Gimples Of Tesla's First India Experience Centre In Mumbai’s BKC

Electric vehicle pioneer Tesla officially marked its entry into the Indian market on Tuesday with the inauguration of its first Experience Centre at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and extended a warm welcome to the global EV leader.

In a PTI video of a Tesla showroom, the futuristic displays and Tesla branding can be seen. Visitors mill around, exploring exhibits that highlight the company’s electric vehicle technology and design ethos.

Earlier in the day, during the inauguration, Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed his appreciation for Tesla’s decision to begin operations in Maharashtra. "I welcome Tesla here in Mumbai. Tesla has opened an experience centre here, and it is a statement that Tesla has arrived and it's a statement they Tesla has arrived in the right city and right state," he remarked.

Fadnavis also shared details about Tesla’s initial infrastructure plans in the state. He noted that the company had already begun setting up four large EV charging stations, in addition to establishing a logistics and servicing ecosystem to support its operations.

"It is a matter of great joy for us that Tesla has launched its first experience in India in Mumbai... I believe Maharashtra will be a preferred destination when they decide to do manufacturing in India," he added.

Innovation And Sustainability

The Chief Minister went on to emphasize Tesla’s broader impact on innovation and sustainable technology. "Tesla is not just a car or a car company, it is all about design, innovation, and sustainability, for which Tesla stands as a testament, and I think that is a one and only reason it is loved globally," he said.

Fadnavis also highlighted the growth of India’s electric mobility sector, especially in Maharashtra, which he described as a robust market and manufacturing hub. "We have now in India and especially in Maharashtra, a very big and robust market for electric mobility... but I think Tesla is going to change the entire market," he stated.
