Turning Rs 15,000 Into Rs 15 LPA Job: Here's A Young Entrepreneur's Story

In a detailed post shared on X, Sushrut Mishra recounted how he secured a job offering an annual salary of Rs 15 lakhs in September 2022.

The founder of VCMedia Labs, Sushrut Mishra, shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) how he secured a job with an annual salary of Rs 15 lakhs at the age of 22. Mishra established VCMedia Labs in June 2023, initially focusing on personal branding services for tech entrepreneurs. However, mere months prior to embarking on his entrepreneurial journey, Mishra, like many other young professionals, earned a monthly income ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000.

In a detailed post shared on X, Sushrut Mishra recounted how he secured a job offering an annual salary of Rs 15 lakhs in September 2022. Mishra elaborated that his journey towards this career milestone was supported by a pivotal moment where he borrowed Rs 15,000 from his former partner, which catalysed his career as a personal brand strategist and expert in social media management.

“At 22, I borrowed Rs 15,000 from my ex to book a return trip to Bengaluru. I had nothing but a hunch. But that hunch converted Rs 15,000 into Rs 15,00,000. A stupid story: It was September 2022. My ex was organising a developer event in Bengaluru. She told me - "There'll be a bunch of startup founders." That was it. I knew I'd get something there. But I had no money,” he wrote in his post.

“That time, I was only earning Rs 40-50K per month. I used to send Rs 25K home and had to manage my expenses in the rest. 4 days before the event, I had Rs 3000 left. With a lot of hesitation, I asked for a loan and booked my flights. We got there. But I had no money to book a hotel. I snuck in my ex's hotel room. Lol. Spent 2 days hiding in the room. We'd take turns to go in and out of the hotel,” he added.

“Anyway, it was the day of the event. I was paying attention to each founder's presentation. And then came one - "hiring a developer advocate, community manager." I knew this was my chance. I shot my shot! We scheduled a call, then another call,” he wrote.

“Then an interview, and there I had it! Within 17 days, I'd converted a borrowed Rs 15K into Rs 1500K job. What if it didn't work out? Well, I'd be down Rs 15K. But the hunch was powerful enough to make me take action. And I'm glad I did. Although I didn't stick to that job, that particular moment changed my life. For the better,” Mishra wrote.

“Want to change your life too? Follow that hunch. Shoot your shot. Borrow from your ex. Or girlfriend. TAKE ACTION,” he concluded the post.
