UKG Layoffs: The Tech Firm Fires Approximately 2,200 Employees Amid Restructuring
UKG Layoffs: In response to the publication's inquiries, a company spokesperson explained that UKG "is implementing organisational changes that allow us to aggressively focus on critical areas"
UKG Layoffs: UKG implemented significant layoffs on Wednesday, reducing its workforce by approximately 2,200 employees. CEO Chris Todd conveyed in an email reviewed by the Business Journal that the privately held software company had downsized approximately 14 per cent of its workforce. In addition, several employees from the company posted about these layoffs on the social media platform LinkedIn.
As one of the largest software developers in Massachusetts based on its local workforce, UKG employed a total of 15,882 people as of last month.
An employee working as a Senior Project Manager at UKG wrote in one of the LinkedIn posts, “Today, many of our colleagues at UKG faced unexpected and difficult news with the recent layoffs. This is a challenging time for everyone involved, and it's crucial that we come together as a community to support one another.”
In response to the publication's inquiries, a company spokesperson explained that UKG "is implementing organisational changes that allow us to aggressively focus on critical areas of growth and support our long-term strategy."
"While decisions that impact our team are not ones we come to lightly, these changes will allow us to redirect resources and invest in key areas of product innovation while enhancing how we support our customers. We are committed to supporting our colleagues through this transition,” the spokesperson added.
In his email, Todd mentioned that he had initially intended to announce these changes the following week. "We originally planned to share these changes next week; however, due to news and speculation related to this action circulating internally, we chose to accelerate the timing to today," he wrote.
Todd specified in his email that the layoffs are concentrated primarily within the US across all departments.
These recent layoffs at UKG follow a reduction of 1.7 per cent of its global workforce, amounting to 265 positions, just over a year ago. The company cited the necessity to prioritise investments in strategic areas as the reason for these actions.
