Tesla CEO Elon Musk Likely To Confirm Desire To Own Twitter In Meeting On Thursday: Report

Tesla Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk is expected to iterate his desire to own social-media company, Twitter Inc, when he speaks to its employees on Thursday, quoting sources the Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the report published on Wednesday, world’s richest person, Musk, is likely to clarify his recent comments about remote work and talk about his strategy for Twitter, including the role of advertising and subscriptions, the Reuters said.

Tesla and Twitter did not respond to a Reuters' request for comment.

Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion in April.

Earlier this month, he had said that Tesla employees were required to be in the office for a minimum of 40 hours per week, closing the door on any remote work. "If you don't show up, we will assume you have resigned," he said.

Shares of Twitter rose about 5 per cent in post-market trading, after closing up 2 per cent on Wednesday.

As reported earlier, the meeting will be held virtually on Thursday morning, and Musk will take questions from Twitter employees, according to the sources of the news portal.

The announcement of the deal and his subsequent concerns to hold the deal over verification of Twitter's estimate of fake users sparked chaos among the employees.

Many employees are miffed with Elon Musk, who has been vocal about the company products and its policies.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has also made changes to the top of Twitter’s product organisation, and announced a series of cost-cutting measures since the deal was announced.
