Shark Tank India: Know How Much Sharks Have Invested So Far In Business Proposals

Aman Gupta, the co-founder and CMO of boAt Lifestyle, has invested Rs 6.69 crore in 23 deals in the show so far.

New Delhi: If you are still not hooked on to the business reality show Shark Tank India, then you are definitely missing out on the action. Considered to be one of the top-ranked business reality shows in the world, the show has managed to garner a lot of attention since it went live.

First launched in Japan in 2001 as ‘Tigers of Money’ on Nippon TV, the show format was adapted by the UK in 2005 and it was called Dragon’s Den there. The US then picked it up in 2009 and is running its 13th season now.

For the uninitiated, the show is all about entrepreneurs making business presentations to a team of seven investors or ‘sharks’, who decide whether the business is worth their investment. A Reddit post has given a sneak peek into the amount invested by the judges on the business proposals in the show till now.

Here are details of the investments made so far by the 'sharks' on the show.

  1. Aman Gupta, the co-founder, and CMO of boAt Lifestyle, which is a $295 million personal audio equipment brand has invested Rs6.69 crore in 23 deals, according to the post. The Delhi businessman reportedly turned investor recently and put his money in logistics firm Shiprocket and some other ventures in 2021. 
  2. Judge and jury member Namita Thapar the CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals is the second highly invested shark in the show. Thapar has invested a whopping Rs4.48 Crore in 15 deals so far. Her company is developing an mRNA vaccine for Covid-19 through Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, its subsidiary. The company is eyeing a Rs 4,000 crore IPO, according to a PTI report.
  3. In the third spot is co-founder and chief executive & people officer at Lenskart Peyush Bansal who has invested Rs4.19 crore in 16 deals. Jugaadu Kamlesh's pesticide trolley spray is also one of the ventures that managed investment from the shark. Bansal, 36 has co-founded Lenskart.com in June 2008 and the online prescription eyewear business Lenskart was worth $2.5 billion six months ago. 
  4.  Shark and judge Ashneer Grover, managing director and co-founder of BharatPe has invested a total of ₹3.96 crore in 15 ventures.
  5. Anupam Mittal, founder, and CEO of the parent company that founded popular matrimonial sites Shaadi.com has invested Rs 3.71 Cr in 16 deals. The 50-year-old is behind other businesses such as Makaan.com, which is a realty portal, and Mauj, a mobile media company.
  6. Vineeta Singh, the co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics, a digital-first brand has zeroed in six deals so far, investing a total of Rs 1.52 core in them.
