Shantanu Naidu Shares Details Of His New Project Called ‘Bookies’. See What It Is All About

The project, Bookies, is a reading movement that calls in people to rediscover the joy of silent reading in public spaces. The initiative has already been launched in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune

Shantanu Naidu, one of Ratan Tata’s trusted confidants, recently took to social media to share an insight into a community initiative. Naidu, who became famous as one of the closest friends of the industrialist, shared his passion for reading via a new initiative called ‘Bookies’.

The project, Bookies, is a reading movement that calls in people to rediscover the joy of silent reading in public spaces. The initiative has already been launched in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune and now Naidu is looking to launch it in Jaipur. The first session of the project is scheduled for Sunday, December 8.

Naidu plans to expand the community reading project to more Indian cities such as Kolkata, Surat, Ahmedabad, and Delhi.

The project received a lot of praise on social media as Netizens expressed their appreciation for the intention behind it. One of the users noted, “I believe happiness is the true need of our time, beyond industrial progress. My dream is to help those struggling in life by spreading joy through spirituality and devotion. I’ve found that inner peace and stability lead to lasting happiness, and I want to share this with as many people as possible. Together, we can create a world where compassion and connection thrive. Join me on this journey to inspire and uplift others.”

Meanwhile, one of the users suggested that the project should have an alternative available for hard covers. The individual commented, "Hard copies are quite expensive while I have an audiobook and a kindle version of the same book. Can I read the book in my kindle app on my phone, and listen to it while others are around at the same time?
