Piyush Goyal Meets MSMEs To Streamline Quality Control Compliance; Details Inside

The meeting aimed to gather on-ground insights and encourage greater participation from MSMEs in the standard formulation process

In an effort to promote quality enhancement and facilitate ease of doing business, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently convened a consultation session with representatives from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. The agenda centered around the implementation and implications of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) and how these measures can be better tailored to support smaller enterprises.

The meeting aimed to gather on-ground insights and encourage greater participation from MSMEs in the standard formulation process. In a post shared on social media, Minister Goyal acknowledged the significance of the feedback received and emphasized the goal of ensuring that compliance frameworks are both practical and inclusive for small businesses.

“Held a stakeholder consultation meeting with the MSME sector to discuss the implementation of Quality Control Orders (QCOs). Appreciated their feedback on making the standard setting process more collaborative, inclusive & easier to comply with,” the Minister stated.

QCOs Seen As Catalysts For Growth And Consumer Trust

Participants at the meeting shared positive experiences regarding the impact of QCOs, especially in terms of improving the quality of goods and fostering greater consumer trust. According to the Minister, stakeholders highlighted how aligning with clearly defined standards has enabled many MSMEs to deliver better products and improve their market credibility.

“MSMEs acknowledged how the QCOs have benefited their sector by enhancing product quality & consumer satisfaction,” he noted.

Commitment To ‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’ Vision

Minister Goyal also reiterated the central government’s commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’, an initiative that promotes the production of high-quality goods without compromising on environmental responsibility. 

“Aligned with PM @NarendraModiji's vision of 'Zero Defect, Zero Effect', reiterated the importance of a 'quality mindset' to boost domestic capabilities and elevate the country's global competitiveness,” he said.
