Over 1 Crore People Ordered Momos From Zomato In 2021

According to Zomato’s annual report, the online firm sent out two biryanis every two seconds in India to make it the online food delivery platform’s top dish this year

New Delhi: Momos have topped the list of most ordered food on Zomato. Momos, which is considered mostly a north Indian dish, have gained pan-Indian popularity this year, according to a latest report by Zomato.

The online food delivery platform in a blogpost has said that 1.06 crore people ordered momos — steamed/ fried meat/ vegetable wheat balls — on its app during 2021.

During the India vs Pakistan T20 cricket match back in October, 1,062,710 people ordered online food from Zomato, the report revealed. According to Zomato, the year’s largest order, for Rs 33,000, was placed by a customer in Ahmedabad, according to report in HT.

Barring momos, Mumbai’s famous vada pav was ordered by 31.57 lakh people. Samosas, on the other hand, were ordered by 72.97 lakh people.

Tushar, a Delhi-based customer, seemed to have a pizza filled 2021, having placed order for 389 pizzas during the year, Zomato said in the blogpost.

In an Instagram post the Gurugram-based company said, “Vicky and Katrina were the second most popular couple of 2021, the first being Paneer Butter Masala and Butter Naan. They were ordered together more than 1.1 million times.”

According to Zomato’s annual report, the online firm sent out two biryanis every two seconds in India to make it the online food delivery platform’s top dish this year.

Last week, rival firm Swiggy said that Indians this year ordered 115 biryanis per minute, samosas equal to New Zealand’s population, and enough tomatoes to play the Spanish Tomatina festival for 11 years, according to an annual report by the Bengaluru-based online food delivery company.
