NSE, BSE Special Trading Session Live: The sessions will be held twice during the day, with timings set from 9:15 am to 10 am and 11:30 am to 12:30 pm
In a measure to assess disaster preparedness, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE have announced special live trading sessions scheduled for Saturday, March 2. Typically observed as a stock market holiday, this Saturday will witness two special live trading sessions organised by NSE and BSE. The initiative aims to evaluate the stock market's readiness to tackle emergencies effectively.
The decision to hold these sessions was communicated in February, with NSE and BSE highlighting the importance of ensuring seamless continuity in trading operations during crisis situations. This undertaking underscores their commitment to uninterrupted market functionality amidst unforeseen events. The special trading sessions will be held twice during the day, with timings set from 9:15 am to 10 am and 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Aligned with regulatory guidelines established by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regarding Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Site (DRS) protocols, this move signifies a departure from the usual market closure on the first Saturday of March.

In an official circular, NSE stated, "Members are requested to note that Exchange shall be conducting a special live trading session with intra-day switch over from Primary site to Disaster Recovery site on Saturday, March 2 in Equity and Equity Derivatives segments."
During these sessions, an intra-day switch will be executed from the primary NSE and BSE websites to their respective disaster recovery sites, necessitating the split schedule to accommodate the transition seamlessly. The first part of the session will be hosted on the primary NSE website from 9:15 am to 10 am, followed by a shift to the recovery site for the second part.
In adherence to regulatory protocols, all future contracts will be subjected to a five per cent operating range during the special live trading session. Additionally, securities in the Future and Options (F&O) segment will observe a price band of 5 per cent for both upper and lower limits. This exercise underscores the stock exchanges' commitment to maintaining operational resilience and ensuring investor confidence in the face of potential adversities.
