Mukesh Ambani Projects $100 Billion Media Industry, Credits PM Modi’s Digital Push

Additionally, Ambani projected that India’s media and entertainment industry has the potential to exceed $100 billion in value over the next decade, nearly quadrupling from its current estimated size

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday shared his vision for the inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, taking place at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. Ambani also commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attending the event despite the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

“We are truly blessed and deeply honoured by PM Modi's presence today. We know your extraordinary responsibilities, particularly after the recent barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam. Therefore, your coming here sends a strong message,” he said.

Extending his condolences, Mukesh Ambani said, “All of us gathered here offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Modiji, you have the full support of 145 crore Indians in this fight against the enemies of peace, justice, and humanity. Their defeat is certain. India’s victory is also certain."

Additionally, Ambani projected that India’s media and entertainment industry has the potential to exceed $100 billion in value over the next decade, nearly quadrupling from its current estimated size of $28 billion.

Digital Transformation

Speaking at the WAVES 2025 summit, Ambani credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for transforming India into a digital-first nation. “Under the visionary leadership of Modiji, India has become a leading digital nation,” he said.

Ambani emphasised how the fusion of storytelling and digital innovation has amplified India’s cultural influence on the global stage. He highlighted the transformative potential of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and immersive media, stating, “The tools of AI and immersive technologies can make our stories more engaging than ever before – and instantly reach audiences across languages, countries, and cultures. I am confident that India's super-talented youth will rule the global entertainment industry.”

The four-day WAVES 2025 summit, taking place from May 1 to May 4, convenes industry leaders to explore strategies for accelerating the growth of India’s media and entertainment sector, which generated revenues of Rs 2.5 lakh crore in 2024.
